Mindset Shift to Achieve your Goals
Do you ever feel like you're not moving forward in life, even when you're trying your best? Sometimes you work really hard towards your goals but still feel stuck, like you're not getting anywhere. This might be because of how you think about your goals.
When you set goals, it's important to pay attention to the thoughts in your head. Are your thoughts fixated on unfavourable results or uplifting outcomes? Let's look at these ideas more closely.
When you set goals or make plans to improve different aspects in your life, the way you think about these goals is really important.
People have different reasons for wanting to make changes,
like feeling overwhelmed lost, stressed, anxious, angry, sad, or bored. They want things to be different. But sometimes, these reasons might not be the best way to think about it. These sentiments are aligned with misguided intentions. You might need to change the way you see things.
Instead of thinking about what you don't want, think about what you want to become. For example, if you're stressed and scared, try thinking, "I want to feel calm and confident." If you're thinking "I'm lonely," change it to "I want to make friends."
When you do this, you're shifting your thoughts from negative things that you don't want to positive things that inspire you. This makes it more likely that you'll succeed in reaching your goals.
How to change your perspective from Undesired outcomes to Inspired outcomes:
1. The first step is to be aware of your thoughts. This is where mindfulness comes into play. Just awareness of your thoughts without any judgements or criticism from a third perspective allows you to understand yourself.
2. Write down all the Undesired outcomes or things you want to change about yourself or the goals you want to achieve.
3. Change the narrative to something that will inspire you to make progress and shift your perspective from undesired outcomes to Inspired outcomes.
Mindset shifts involve changing the way you think or perceive a situation. Here are some examples of mindset shifts:
1. From Fixed to Growth Mindset:
- Old Mindset: "I'm not good at math, and I never will be."
- Mindset Shift: "I may not be good at math yet, but with practice and effort, I can improve."
2. From Scarcity to Abundance Mindset:
- Old Mindset: "There's never enough money to go around."
- Mindset Shift: "I can create opportunities to increase my income and financial stability."
3. From Negative to Positive Self-Talk:
- Old Mindset: "I always mess things up."
- Mindset Shift: "Mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow; I can do better
next time."
4. From Fear of Failure to Embracing Failure:
- Old Mindset: "I can't take risks because I'm afraid of failing."
- Mindset Shift: "Failure is a stepping stone to success; I'll embrace it as a
valuable learning experience."
5. From Victim to Empowerment Mindset:
- Old Mindset: "Life is always unfair to me."
- Mindset Shift: "I have the power to make choices and take control of my life,
despite challenges."
6. From Blaming Others to Taking Responsibility:
- Old Mindset: "It's their fault that I'm not succeeding."
- Mindset Shift: "I am responsible for my actions and outcomes; I can change
my course."
7. From Perfectionism to Progress:
- Old Mindset: "I must do everything perfectly, or it's not worth doing."
- Mindset Shift: "I'll focus on making progress and learning from imperfections along the way.”
So, how can you change your thinking from negative to positive? First, pay attention to your thoughts. This is called being mindful. Just notice your thoughts without judging yourself. Write down the things you want to change or the goals you want to achieve.
Then, change the way you think about them to something that makes you excited to make progress. This shift in thinking will help you move from feeling stuck to feeling motivated and inspired to achieve your goals.
